Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between resizing and compression?

Resizing changes width and height in pixels. Compression changes how an image is encoded to reduce its file size. You can do both here. Read the resizing guide.

Will reducing file size change image quality?

It can. JPEG and WebP use adjustable lossy compression. PNG does not respond to a quality slider in this tool; meeting a smaller limit may require smaller dimensions or a different format. Read the file size guide.

Can I resize without a file size limit?

Yes. Clear the maximum file size field. With Keep proportions enabled, your image fits within the selected box. Turn it off only when you want exact dimensions and accept possible stretching.

What happens to transparency and photo metadata?

PNG and WebP can preserve transparency. JPEG replaces transparent areas with white. Re-exporting creates new image pixels and does not copy the original camera EXIF data. This is not a forensic metadata inspection tool.
